The data presented today reflect the delay in integrating 599 positive laboratory reports that were reported over the weekend.

The DGS epidemiological bulletin reveals that 504 patients are hospitalised (32 fewer than on Monday), the lowest since September 19, the day 497 people were hospitalised.

In intensive care, Portugal today has 113 patients, plus one compared to Monday, the lowest figure since October 7, the day 104 people were hospitalised in these units.

The transmissibility index (Rt) of the new coronavirus in Portugal rose on Monday to 1 on the continent, while the incidence dropped to 60.9 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants in the last 14 days, according to official data.

The previous Rt on the continent, released on Friday, was 0.97 and the incidence was 62.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

With regard to the values ​​referring to the whole country, the joint bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) and the National Institute of Health Doctor Ricardo Jorge (INSA) reveals that the Rt rose from 0.97, on Friday, to 0.98 on the second.

Regarding the incidence of new cases per 100 thousand inhabitants in the last 14 days throughout the national territory, the official data point to a decrease, going from 65.6 on Friday, to the 62.8 cases of infection by SARSCoV2 per 100 thousand inhabitants.

The two deaths reported today were recorded in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley.

In the Algarve region, today's bulletin reveals that 18 new cases were registered, accumulating 20,880 infections and 354 deaths.

In the Autonomous Region of Madeira, 32 new cases were registered, accounting for 8,715 infections and 68 deaths due to covid-19 since March 2020.

Today, the Azores have 37 new cases and account for 4,125 cases and 29 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic, according to DGS.

The regional authorities of the Azores and Madeira disclose their data on a daily basis, which may not coincide with the information disclosed in the DGS bulletin.

Of the total fatalities, 8,867 were men and 8,020 women.

The largest number of deaths continues to be concentrated in the elderly over 80 years old, followed by the age group between 70 and 79 years old.

Of the total deaths, 11,127 were people over 80 years old, 3,585 aged between 70 and 79 years old, and 1,506 were between 60 and 69 years old.
