The DGS epidemiological bulletin reveals that 3,095 people are hospitalised, 63 fewer than on Monday, of which 508 are in intensive care, six more.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Portugal has already registered 6,254 deaths and 378,656 cases of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, and today 67,577 are active, 2,849 fewer than on Monday.
Health authorities have 86,334 contacts under surveillance, 1,185 more than on Monday.
The bulletin also reveals that 5,222 cases have been reported as recovered.
Since the beginning of the epidemic in Portugal in March, 304,825 people have recovered.
Regarding the 63 deaths registered in the last 24 hours, the bulletin reveals that 26 have occurred in Lisbon and Tagus Valley, 17 in the Centre region, 15 in the North region, four in Alentejo and one in the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
According to the DGS bulletin, the North region registered the highest number of new infections by SARS-CoV-2 in the last 24 hours (1,047).
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Northern region has registered 195,957 cases of infection and 2,941 deaths.
In the region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo 639 new infections have been reported, with 122,074 cases and 2,156 deaths so far.
In the Centro region there have been a further 428 cases, accumulating a total of 41,671 infections and 889 deaths.
In Alentejo, a further 232 cases were reported, totalling 9,405 infections and 173 deaths since the epidemic began in Portugal.
The Algarve region has today reported 38 new cases, totalling 6,661 infections and 64 deaths.
Madeira has registered 39 new cases. Since March, this autonomous region accounts for 1,294 infections and 10 deaths.
In the Autonomous Region of the Azores 13 new cases have been registered in the last 24 hours, totalling 1,594 infections and 21 deaths.
The confirmed cases are spread over all age groups, with the highest number of infections being registered between 20 and 59 years old.
The new coronavirus has already infected at least 170,035 men and 208,484 women in Portugal, according to DGS data, 137 cases of unknown sex are under investigation, as these data are not provided automatically.
Of the total number of fatalities, 3,258 were men and 2,996 women.
The highest number of deaths is still concentrated in the elderly over the age of 80, followed by people between the ages of 70 and 79.
