On May 27, the Government authorised the expenditure by the Regional Health Administrations (ARS) for the acquisition of the flu vaccine for the 2021/2022 season.
For Filipe Froes, "the reservation of flu vaccines has to be made as far in advance as possible in order to guarantee a number of vaccines that, increasingly, are scarce due to requests from other countries".
The pulmonologist stressed in statements to Lusa that one of the lessons reinforced by the pandemic was "the importance of planning, organisation and anticipation", giving the example of Germany which made practically all of the order of vaccines that it needs "several months ago".
“We can't say we're going to anticipate and prepare and then leave everything to a time when we're limited and keep the leftovers,” he warned.
