IPMA also placed 16 councils in the districts of Faro, Beja, Santarém, Castelo Branco and Portalegre at very high risk of fire.
This risk, determined by the IPMA, has five levels, ranging from reduced to maximum.
Calculations are obtained from air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and amount of precipitation in the last 24 hours.
The IPMA forecasts for today on the mainland generally light cloudy skies and a small rise in the minimum temperature.
The forecast also points to a light to moderate wind from the eastern quadrant, blowing temporarily from northwest on the western coastal strip during the afternoon, being moderate to strong in the highlands until late morning and from late afternoon.
The minimum temperatures will fluctuate between 8 degrees Celsius (in Guarda) and 20 (in Portalegre) and the maximum between 20 (in Guarda) and 32 (in Setúbal).
More criminal fires... And Portugal continues paying lip service to how it values the environment. Just torch up the whole place and then wait for more EU funds to line the pockets of politicians and their cronies. Better still, get the Nordics to run the place. At least there would be proper land management, cleanliness and less corruption. As well as looking to the future instead of dragging citizens and residents to some medieval past.
