Provisional data available on the ICNF website shows that
since the beginning of the year there have been 5,560 rural fires, which caused
20,379 hectares of burned area, 52% of which in bush, 40% in forest and 8% in
agricultural spaces.
Comparing these data with the ICNF report of July 15, 2021,
it was concluded that to date the burned area has increased by 65%, plus 8,256
hectares, and fire occurrences have increased by 30%, having set off another
1,297 fires.
ICNF data also show that more than a third of this year's
burned area has been burned since last Friday, with fires having consumed 7,906
hectares since then and to date (38% more).
