In a statement sent to the press, the low-cost airline
explains that “the routes will be guaranteed twice a week”, with flights to
Milan and Paris starting on December 4, while connections to Lyon start the day
before, 3 December, and the operation between Porto Santo and London Gatwick
starts on 2 November.
“The new routes represent a reinforcement of easyJet's
position as the second airline to operate in Funchal, now featuring nine routes
– 7 international and 5 domestic – to and from five countries (Portugal, United
Kingdom, Germany, France and Italy) and 460,000 available seats, which
represents an increase of 46% in relation to the capacity of seats in the
winter of 2021”.
“We are very pleased with the growth we have been having in
Funchal and with the inauguration of our first international connection from
Porto Santo. easyJet is attentive to the needs and wants to offer more and
better travel opportunities to its customers”, said José Lopes, managing
director of easyJet in Portugal.
EasyJet, Ryanair (to a considerable degree), Transavia and even Wizzair have been a breath of fresh air to Madeirans, its passengers and visitors. Let LIS alone to continue proudly hijacked by TAP.
