Renewable energies accounted for 75% of the electricity
generated by EDP in the first six months of the year. According to the note
sent to the Securities Market Commission (CMVM), wind and solar generation
increased by 16% as a result of the renewable resource. This value is 2% above
the long-term average when compared with the 5% reduction in the same period of
the previous year. This increase was also a result of the greater installed capacity,
explains the statement.
The note states that during the last 12 months, 2.5
gigawatts (GW/h) of capacity were added to the wind and solar portfolio,
reaching an installed capacity of 14.0 GW, an increase of 1.3 GW over the same
period. At the end of June 2022, EDP had 3.2 GW of capacity under construction.
In the supply business, the company led by Miguel Stilwell
de Andrade informs that in the Iberian Peninsula, the volume of electricity
sold increased by 10% compared to the same period last year, a slowdown
compared to the 16% registered in the first quarter of 2022.
So when do residents receive benefits of this, i.e. lower electricity bills?

Spain and Portugal have just lowered electricity prices by 40% because of the renewable energy.

Spain and Portugal's attempt to reduce electricity prices has nothing to do with renewable energy, it is a subsidy for fossil fuels paid to the energy producers.

I have no idea where the comments are coming from. The gas and oil have increased about 100% over a year but solar and wind have not. I payed 14 cents/KW today I pay 28 cents on a network that is fed with 60% of renewables. This year is the best for the energy companies. Huge profits and the government is happy, more taxes in...
