In the last two years, more than 200 attacks by orcas against vessels have been recorded along the Iberian coast.
The most recent took place in Sines, last Sunday, when five people had to be rescued after the sailboat they were in sank.
Experts believe the mammals may be acting purely out of fun, curiosity, or revenge.
According
to statistics from the “Orca Ibérica” group, since 2020, 239 incidents with
orcas have been recorded.
I have wondered if they were hungry and looking for food. The seas are overfished and there's a serious lack of food for many marine creatures, including whales.
