"In August 2022, the tourist accommodation sector recorded 3.4 million guests and 9.9 million overnight stays, the highest monthly values since there is record, corresponding to growths of 33.0% and 31.9%, respectively (+85.4% and +90% in July, in the same order)," concluded the National Statistics Institute (INE), which published the statistics of tourism activity, for August.

Compared to the same month of 2019, this has been the best year for tourism so far, guests grew by 1.2% and overnight stays increased by 2.8%.
