According to a source from the District Center for Relief Operations (CDOS) in Faro, the 43-year-old man suffered burns, and his condition being considered serious.

The fire broke out at around 11:00 in a boat restoration and repair factory, in the industrial area of Bom João, near the city centre, and was declared extinguished at 11:20.

According to CDOS, "the causes that led to the fire are unknown" in that space where "highly flammable" materials are used.
