“What is known is that he suffered a fall, at the end of the
second stage, and did not survive his injuries”, Manuel Marinheiro, president
of the FMP, told Lusa.
The accident occurred three kilometres from the end of the
stage between Bousaid and Tagounite, in Morocco.
Armindo Neves was born in Avis (Portalegre), but lived in
Santiago do Cacém (Setúbal).
The Africa Eco Race has 12 stages and ends on October 30 at
Lago Rosa in Dakar.
Armindo Neves is the second Portuguese driver to die in an
off-road event, after Paulo Gonçalves died following a fall suffered in the
seventh stage of the Dakar rally, in 2020.
