According to the DGS weekly epidemiological bulletin, compared to the previous week, there were 1,202 more cases of infection, with six more deaths in the comparison between the two periods.
As for hospital occupancy in mainland Portugal due to covid-19, the DGS started to release data on hospitalizations for the Monday before the report was published on Fridays.
Based on this criterion, the bulletin indicates that, last Monday, 570 people were hospitalised, just one less than on the same day of the previous week, with 42 patients in intensive care units, eight more than the previous week.
According to the DGS bulletin, the seven-day incidence was, on Monday, at 63 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, having registered a 24% increase compared to the previous week, and the transmissibility index (Rt) of the coronavirus rose to 1.03 nationally.
By region, Lisbon and Vale do Tejo recorded 2,412 cases between November 8 and 14, 256 more than in the previous period, and 24 deaths, eight more.
The Central region accounted for 887 cases (plus 114) and 11 deaths (plus two) and the North totalled 1,610 cases of infection (plus 378) and 11 deaths (minus five).
In the Alentejo, 254 positive cases were recorded (12 more) and one death (the same number as the previous week) and in the Algarve there were 228 infections by SARS-CoV-2 (an additional eight) and three deaths (the same number as the previous week).
As for the autonomous regions, the Azores had 300 new infections in the last seven days (plus 105) and no deaths, while Madeira recorded 787 cases in that period (plus 329) and one death (plus one), according to DGS data.
According to the report, the age group between 60 and 69 years old was the one with the highest number of cases within seven days (1,064), followed by people between 50 and 59 years old (1,034), while children up to at age 9 they were the group with the fewest infections this week (206).
