The horse was caught walking on the side of the A17
motorway, about a kilometre from the Vagos junction, in the Aveiro-Figueira da
Foz direction, as a source from the National Republican Guard (GNR) confirmed
to Notícias ao Minuto.
This is the second incident to involve animals on a highway,
after, on Saturday, a cow was seen circulating on the Second Ring Road.
Contrary to what happened to that animal, which ended up
being shot down by the PSP, the horse on the A17 was removed by employees of Ascendi,
the concessionaire of this motorway, and later handed over to its owner.
The alert was given at 8:06 am and a GNR patrol came to the
scene.
The PSP had no right to shoot down and kill the cow that was wandering on the road. They could of hearded the cow off the road and brought it into a field or back to its owner. So not necessary.
