BMW in the US issued a statement where it reported that more
than 14,000 cars are defective due to a software malfunction affecting the
battery management unit. The iX, i4 and i7 produced between October 14, 2021
and October 28, 2022 are the affected vehicles.
According to NM, the number of affected cars in Portugal is
unknown however BMW Portugal did confirm that the error has also been identified
in Portugal but that it does not pose any danger to drivers.
"During internal quality checks, BMW has identified
that incorrect diagnoses can occur from time to time in the vehicle's battery
management unit. In very rare cases, this can lead to an unplanned interruption
of vehicle battery charging or a shutdown of the high-voltage system. Software
updates are already available to correct these occasional incorrect diagnoses”,
according to BMW and reported by NM.
Drivers who are affected by this problem can continue to drive their cars while they wait for the said update which will not have any associated cost.

It was predictable. Portuguese company is involved in software development for BMW. I won't be saying it's name, as i don't know if it's connected. But let's be honest, software development isn't Portuguese strength. It can't be, taking into account local wages.
