In recent days, reports have appeared in the media that call into question the quality of the water supplied by EPAL.
In a statement sent to Lusa agency, the company that supplies the Lisbon region stressed that “surveillance/monitoring the quality of water throughout the entire length of the supply system (…), from the water resources used to the point of delivery to the consumer, constitutes one of EPAL's greatest commitments”.
Specifically, EPAL underlined that research into PFAS (perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl compounds) is provided for in the European directive on the quality of water intended for human consumption and added that, within the scope of its Water Quality Control Plan (PCQA), carries out “the systematic search/monitoring of the 20 PFAS provided for” in the directive.
EPAL also explained that the quality of the water supplied to the municipalities and distributed to direct consumers in the city of Lisbon is ensured "through the analysis of more than 25,000 water samples per year".
“These samples are taken at around 1,500 sampling points representing the entire company's supply system, where more than 300,000 analyses are carried out to verify compliance with applicable legal requirements, allowing evidence of the excellent quality of the water supplied by the company and compliance with the legislation in force, thus granting a quality seal awarded by ERSAR [Regulatory Entity for Water and Waste Services] to the water consumed by around 3 million people”, the company also stressed.
Maybe the tap water in Angola is worse, but in the three years I’ve been here, I’ve never drunk any tap water in Portugal, since it’s full of chemicals.

Well, at least the tap water in Portugal is drinkable and safe, look at Mexico, their tap water can kill you and you can't cook or wash with it too.
