This year marking 450 years since D. Sebastião raised Lagos to the category of city, the young monarch will be the great protagonist of this event, marking much of the programming prepared for the four days.
The Festival of Discoveries kicks off on 4 May at 2h30 pm with the Historical Parade along the Avenida dos Descobrimentos, involving the local school community, cultural associations and participants, something that has remained at the heart of the event. This moment marks the start of the festival, which includes the Quinhentista Fair, welcoming a record number of participants that include craftsmen and artisans.
There will be constant entertainment in the grounds and in the three performance venues - Palco da Muralha, Palco do Infante and Arco de S. Gonçalo - which will include Christian and Arab music, percussion, oriental dance, live statues, children's theatre, among others. The highlight of the daily programme will be the three great shows that are being prepared - KauDeDRAC (4 and 5 May), The Last Ship (6 and 7 May) and King's Birthday (6 and 7 May).
