The Navy has once again accompanied the passage of ships from the Russian Federation along the Portuguese coast. This time, they were the scientific research vessels 'Professor Logashev' and 'Akademik Karpinskiy'.
In a statement, the Navy said that the frigate D. Francisco de Almeida "accompanied" the two ships, which "sailed in transit off the Portuguese coast", between the 1st and 3rd of May.
"The monitoring of Russian naval units stems from the defense of national interests and the exercise of State authority at sea, and is a procedure that represents a strong contribution to world security and deterrence, also demonstrating Portugal's commitment to the collective effort of the Alliance in maintaining maritime situational awareness", reads the note, which adds that "the Navy permanently ensures Portugal's interests at sea".
Anything Russian should not pass through the EU. This is absurd, they need to be treated the way they treat others.
