“Whether because of the device's response, or because of the number of fires, or because of the change that seems to be positive in the movement of the winds and also because there has been, from yesterday [Sunday] to today, a relative replacement of night humidity, for now an alert situation will not be determined”, José Luís Carneiro told journalists.

The minister also considered that the means and devices for fighting fires "are showing efficiency" at this time.

On Sunday, the Secretary of State for Civil Protection said that the Government was considering declaring an alert situation due to the high danger of rural fires in the coming days, in which a “complex” meteorological framework is expected.
