During the operational briefing, the national commander of ANEPC, André Fernandes, said that weather conditions in the area would remain unfavourable during the afternoon, due to the heat and dry wind, but the next 24 hours will be essential to prevent the fire from spreading to the Monchique mountains in the Algarve.

In addition to the weather conditions, he explained, the characteristics of the terrain have complicated the fight against the fire, making it difficult for the teams to progress and potentiating "the opening of the fire on several new fronts".
