Speaking to Lusa, the commander of the Arganil Volunteer Fire Department, Fernando Gonçalves, said that firefighters continue to remove biomass and material from the warehouse area, where the fire continues to rage.
“We still have 60% of this material burning,” he added.
The work will continue today and is expected to continue for a few more days.
“It will take all day [today] and certainly tomorrow. We'll have work here for a few more days. We hope that this situation will be completely resolved by Sunday”.
The alert for fire at the pellets company, located in Sarzedo, in the municipality of Arganil, district of Coimbra, was given at 5:56am on Thursday.
