According to Sul informação, an earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale was felt in the mountains about 8 km northeast of Monchique on Sunday 5 November in both the Algarve and the Alentejo at 21:18.

According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), the earthquake "did not cause personal or material damage", but "was felt with maximum intensity IV/V (modified Mercalli scale) in the municipalities of Albufeira and Lagoa".

It was also felt with less intensity in the municipalities of Beja, Portimão, and Silves.
