Pedro Fino was speaking at the Legislative Assembly of Madeira, during the discussion of the Regional Government Program, of the PSD/CDS-PP coalition, for the four-year period 2023-2027.
Responding to socialist deputy Patrícia Agrela, who defended the need to improve public transport, the government official said that the measure will be included in the Regional Budget for next year, representing an investment of 4.3 million euros.
In his initial intervention, the secretary highlighted that “it is in a particularly demanding and uncertain context” that the Government Program is being discussed, referring to the wars in Eastern Europe and the Middle East and the political crisis in the country.
The government official argued that “with socialism Portugal is not in the right place” and compared the unstable situation on the continent with the climate of stability in Madeira.
Pedro Fino stated that the Regional Government is committed to implementing a “demanding and ambitious” program, highlighting housing, energy transition and mobility as priorities, in addition to the completion of the Madeira Central and University Hospital.
In the mobility chapter, the Madeiran executive intends to improve and modernise public transport, as well as continue investing in the requalification of the regional road network, he highlighted.
