According to data from the National Statistics Institute (INE), based on the Personnel Tables, the institute concludes that, in 2021, in 285 (93%) of the 308 municipalities, the median value of the monthly earnings did not exceed 1,000 euros, varying between 760.40 euros in the municipalities of Gavião and Belmonte and 1,781.36 euros in Castro Verde.
“The median value of the monthly earnings was lower for female TCOs (896.39 euros) compared to male TCOs (1,022.00 euros). Only in the municipalities of Oeiras (1,296.49 euros), Lisbon (1,235.44 euros), Porto (1,066.00 euros) and Campo Maior (1,034.63 euros) did the median value of women's earnings exceed 1,000 euros per month, i.e. That is, only in these four municipalities did 50% of the TCOs that operated there have monthly earnings higher than that reference”, reads the INE bulletin.
It should also be noted that the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (AML) presented, in the year under analysis, the greatest difference in the median value of monthly earnings between age groups: the highest value was found in the age group from 35 to 54 (1,225.25 euros ) and the lowest in the 16 to 34 age group (1,018.32 euros). “Despite being the sub-region where there was the greatest disparity in median monthly earnings between age groups, it was also the only one where the median earnings exceeded 1,000 euros per month across the three age groups”.
