The Lithuanian capital, Vilnius, has been named the new European Green Capital for 2025.

The city is the current title holder due to its efforts to reduce emissions with measures such as increasing renewable energy and renovating heating infrastructures, improving biodiversity and for its clean air and water. The capital aims to be climate-neutral by 2030.
