The market for electric passenger vehicles (BEV) grew 104% between January and November this year, and according to the Automobile Association of Portugal (ACAP), 32,433 new vehicles were registered.
In November alone, there was an increase of 89.2% in the market for those vehicles, compared to the same month in 2022, with 4,061 new passenger cars being registered.
In total, in November, 8,843 new electric, plug-in and electric hybrid passenger cars were registered in Portugal, that is, 60.2% more than in the same month last year.
As for light goods vehicles, the market for electric, 'plug-in' and electric hybrids recorded, in the penultimate month of 2023, a positive evolution of 68.5%, compared to the same month last year, standing at 182 registered units. In accumulated terms, this market reached 2,205 units, which represented a growth of 182.7% compared to the same period in 2022.
In accumulated terms, in the eleven months of 2023, there was a growth of 337.5%, compared to the same period of the previous year, with 280 vehicles registered.
Sales of fossil fuel combustion vehicles have to be absolutely prohibited in Portugal, obviously not affecting the ones which still have these cars.
