According to data from Eurostat and reported by land_geist, it is in Alto Tâmega in Portugal where you can find the highest median age out of all of the NUTS 3 regions in Europe.
The median age of residents in Alto Tâmega, which is found in the north of Portugal, is 56.2 years, pushing it up above Veurne in Belgium (55.8 years) and Evrytania in Greece (55.6 years).
“Although Italy, Greece and Spain have several regions with some of the highest median ages in Europe, eastern Germany dominates the top of the ranking. The vast majority of regions in eastern Germany have a median age of over 50”, states land_geist.
