Guarda, Oliveira de Azeméis, Coimbra (Solum and Eiras), Leiria, Évora, Vila Nova de Gaia (Canelas), Sintra (Rio de Mouro), Maia (Moreira), Seixal (Fernão Ferro) and Barreiro (Lavradio) are the next locations for the Spanish supermarket.
Also noteworthy is the inauguration of the Almeirim (Santarém) logistics block, which will be the company's largest in the Iberian Peninsula and is scheduled for the second half of the year, according to NM.
"In 2019, Mercadona opened its first logistics block in Póvoa de Varzim (Porto). Now, about to complete five years since the first opening in Portugal and with a view to continuing its expansion project, it will open in the second half of 2024, the Almeirim Logistics Block (Santarém), the company's largest in the Iberian Peninsula".
The company reveals that it has "more than 5,000 employees and the new stores continue to reveal the strong investment made in Portugal, where the company continues to create stable and quality jobs".
