According to information published on the website of the Consulate General of Portugal in Manchester, during the week there will be cultural initiatives, with concerts and performances, including the broadcast of the opera “A Laugh to Cry,” by Portuguese composer Miguel Azguime, with free admission.
There will be visits to companies with links to Portugal and to the port of Belfast, according to the consulate.
There will also be a consular presence so that emigrants can deal with bureaucratic issues, but also for information on possible British visas for Portugal (necessary since Brexit).
This week's promoter, the Return Programme, which provides support for emigrants to return to Portugal, will be there to explain this government initiative and answer emigrants' questions about possible funding and help.
There will also be initiatives on Portuguese language teaching, with the Consul General visiting two primary and secondary schools in Portadown and donating Portuguese books to school libraries.
A “visit and support to the most vulnerable communities” is also planned, according to the consular information.
