The National Institute of Statistics (INE) says this: “The year-on-year variation in housing rents per square meter was 6.5% in February 2024 (5.9% in the previous month)”. What also stands out is that houses for rent became more expensive in all regions, with Lisbon registering the most intense increase (6.8%).

The increase in the price of houses for rent on a monthly basis has slowed down. “The average value of housing rents per square meter registered a monthly variation of 1.0% (1.4% in the previous month)”, INE also states.

Compared to the previous month, it was Lisbon that saw the biggest increase in house rents (1.2%). And there was “no region with a negative variation in the respective average value of housing rents”.
