In a statement sent to Lusa News Agency, the Independent Union of All United Nurses (SITEU) explained that the strike was "called off following the Minister of Health's willingness to initiate negotiations."

The strike was planned for April 26, 29, and 30, as well as May 2 and 3, and would have affected public, social, and private sector institutions across the mainland and the autonomous regions of the Azores and Madeira, regionally on different days.
