In 2022, women generally married earlier than men in all European countries. It is in Romania that the gender difference is most pronounced, with a difference of approximately three years: 31.2 years for men and 28 years for women.

According to the European Statistics Office, in Portugal, in 2022, men married, on average, at 34.4 years old and women at 32.7 years old. Values higher than the averages found in the European Union (EU): 33.1 and 30.7 years, respectively.

Spain leads the ranking of countries where people marry later, with men at 46.8 years old and women at 34.7 years old. Next on the list are Sweden, Italy, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Belgium, before Portugal.

At the bottom of the table, that is, leading the list of European countries that married earlier, in 2022, is Turkey: men were 28.3 years old and women were 25.6 years old.
