France has set a goal of cutting its greenhouse emissions by 50 percent by 2030 to meet European commitments, and Paris also claims to reach carbon neutrality by 2030.

The country had the second-highest increase in wind generation in the EU last year, behind Germany, as well as the biggest growth in wind and solar combined across the bloc, with a 14 terawatt hours jump.
