According to ECO, the workers of CP - Comboios de Portugal will be on strike again on 22 and 24 July, accusing the company's administration of presenting an unacceptable proposal. "In addition to the plenary scheduled for 11 July, a group of unions gave CP a strike notice for the 22nd and 24th of this month," reads a note from the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions (Fectrans).
These workers were on strike on 28 June. For the unions, "it is unacceptable" that the CP administration, after having guaranteed that it would extend to all workers an agreement that was concluded with a trade union organisation, wants to condition this on the acceptance of the career regulation proposal.
The Government, the CP, and the National Union of Machinists of the Portuguese Railways (SMAQ), who had called a strike between 27 June and 14 July, which was later suspended, recently reached an agreement.
Fectrans argued that the proposal "does not value the salary gap", which it said was a "strategic measure" to recruit new workers and keep the current ones.
According to the same note, "We hope that they will come with clearer ideas to resolve the conflict and not with the same line of confrontation and provocation," he said. The plenary session on the 11th will take place at Entrecampos station, in Lisbon.
In addition to the CTs of CP and IP and Fectrans, the trade union associations of the Intermediate Heads of Railway Exploration (ASCEF) and Independent of Railway Workers of the Commercial Career (ASSIFECO), as well as the national unions of Transport, Communications and Public Works (FENTCOP), Railway Workers (SNTSF), Railway Workers of the Movement and Related (SINAFE), Democratic Railway (Sindefer) and Technical Cadres (SNAQ) subscribe to this position.
Added is the support of the independent unions of Railway Workers, Infrastructure and Related (SINFA), National of Railway Workers (SINFB), Railway and Related Operationals (SIOFA) and the unions of Rail Transport (STF) and Metro and Railway Workers (STMEFE).
