The Lisbon City Council has approved the government's purchase of five Marvila property parcels for more than 4.7 million euros in order to build the new Lisbon Oriental Hospital. The five plots of land, which together have an area of 28,000 square meters, join another 13 that were already acquired for the same purpose in 2010 at a cost of over 13 million euros.
There will be between 870 and 1,300 inpatient beds at the new hospital, which will be constructed in the parish of Marvila, according to information on the Ministry of Health website. Moreover, six medical facilities, including the Alfredo do Costa Maternity Hospital and the hospitals of São José, Santa Marta, Capuchos, D. Estefânia, and Curry Cabral, will be replaced by the Lisboa Oriental Hospital.
The purchase of five plots of land in the parish of Marvila, whose sale to the Ministry of Health had been approved in 2017, was approved by the executive for a total of €4,778,480, according to the diploma signed by Prime Minister Luís Montenegro and published in the Official Gazette. The document states that "the value of the acquisition of the plots of land identified in the previous number is that which results from the evaluation carried out by Estamo - Participações Imobiliárias, SA”.
