The test saw the vehicles hit 30kph, a proof of concept that the firm’s CEO Roel van de Pas considers a “key milestone” in the development of the transport system which aims to hit 700kph on intercity trips.
The Hyperloop is designed to be a high-speed transportation system for both passengers and freight. It uses capsules supported by an air-bearing surface within a low-pressure tube and promises to reduce infrastructure costs and energy consumption compared to cars or planes.
