The Portuguese coach is reportedly the top choice to take over Manchester United, which currently has former football player Ruud Van Nistelrooy as temporary coach, according to English media publications like The Athletic.
The interested parties have already begun negotiating. The aforementioned media outlet claims that United is already in negotiations with Sporting to finalise the transfer and is prepared to pay the ten million euro termination clause in Rúben Amorim's contract.
Negotiations between Amorim and Manchester United are proceeding smoothly, according to Florian Plettenberg, a well-known writer for Sky Sports. On the most crucial elements, there will be consensus. However, according to this source, Amorim is not putting any pressure on Sporting to expedite the talks.
Rúben Amorim sought to “clear” the matter during a press conference prior to the game versus Nacional. “I was already expecting that. Obviously, I'm not going to talk about my future, because whether I say yes or no, I'll always have to comment. From the first day, I said I wasn't going to talk about my future. I'm very proud to be Sporting's coach. That's all. I won't comment on my future. We'll move forward,” he stated.
Rúben Amorim has been in charge of Sporting since 2020, when Frederico Varandas paid ten million euros to Sporting de Braga, taking them to Alvalade. There, he won six titles, including two national championships. He was twice named best national coach.
