This investment in more underground containers aims to “modernise and expand the urban waste management system in the municipality, reinforcing its sustainability and the quality of urban space”, highlights the city hall.

This intervention includes the acquisition of 18 underground containers for unsorted waste and 10 underground recycling bins, which will be installed in strategic locations in the municipality, selected with the aim of improving accessibility and the urban waste collection service.

The deadline for installing these new infrastructures is four months, with completion expected in the first months of 2025.

With this intervention, the Municipality of Lagoa claims to reinforce “its commitment to sustainability and environmental quality, promoting a more efficient, hygienic waste collection system adapted to the needs of the population”.

“The Municipality of Lagoa has made a strong investment every year to increase the number of “Ecological Islands”, contributing to the sustainability of the planet, improving the environment and, therefore, the quality of life of Lagoa residents. We have done our part and it is important that the company responsible for collecting waste, ALGAR – Valorização e Tratamiento de Residues Sólidos S.A, does its part so that we can have a cleaner and more cared-for territory”, said Luís Encarnação, President of Lagoa City Council.
