The festival will feature 16 talented artists, who will bring to life a variety of characters inspired by different themes such as living nativity scenes, historical figures, religion, literature, and professions. These performances will be presented across 15 artistic tableaux set in the picturesque streets of Rua 25 de Abril and Largo 5 de Outubro, creating an immersive and magical experience for all visitors.

This year’s edition will highlight significant anniversaries, including the 50th anniversary of the Revolução 25 de Abril and the 500th anniversary of the birth of the famous Portuguese poet Luís de Camões. A special living statue of Camões will be on display, alongside a tribute to Captain Salgueiro Maia, a key figure in the peaceful 1974 revolution that overthrew Portugal’s dictatorship.

As is tradition, the public will have the chance to vote for their favourite living stature through the Public Prize. In 2023, the Public Prize went to the living statue “The Mother”, while the Jury Prize was awarded to “Pixelette”. This interactive competition encourages community participation and celebrates the creativity involved in this unique form of art.

The event not only showcases the art of performance but also aims to bring life to Lagoa’s city centre and boost local commerce during the festive season, offering a cultural experience that will leave a lasting impression on all who attend.
