The 2024 edition of MOTUS runs until December 14th with a production by Teatro das Figuras, which promises, in a statement, to bring “bold and irreverent proposals to surprise the Algarve public”.
The opening session, on Saturday December 7th at 9:30 pm, at Teatro das Figuras, presents the show “Parque Central”, by the collective Erva Daninha, which, according to the organisers, uses contemporary circus to “portray the fast pace of current society, inviting the public to reflect on this reality”.
On Thursday, December 12th, at 7pm, Lígia Soares and Henrique Furtado present “Godôs”, a performance from the collection “Morrer aos Passarinhos”, which explores the theme of waiting, according to the festival presentation.
“This performance consists of trying to convince people walking down the street to go to the stage of a theatre”, say the organisers.
At the beginning of the performance, the audience will sit “facing an empty stage”, as “one actor is missing”, with the creators having the task of “finding” a potential performer.
The festival continues the following day at 11pm at the Art Haus Club with a creation by Alfredo Martins and Marco da Silva Ferreira entitled “Silent Disco”, which consists of an “immersive show that invites the public to form a temporary community, guided through headphones by ear through the empty space of a bar/nightclub”.
“Control Freak”, on Saturday December 14th at 9:30 pm, is another of the bets of this edition of MOTUS which, according to the statement, will present a “fun, captivating and innovative performance that combines humour, circus, technology and live music”, created and performed by artist Kulu Orr.
Parallel to the festival, “Corpo/ser vivo” will take place, a movement research and interpretation workshop with Ana Borges, which invites you to get to know and listen to the body (December 9, 10 and 11 from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, at the Teatro of the Figures).
