In 2024, the Proença-a-Nova Mobile Health Unit reported 1,934 attendances, of which 159 were seen for the first time in the municipality, demonstrating the service's noteworthy impact. The municipality claims that the Mobile Health Unit is essential to the delivery of healthcare services to communities in the Castelo Branco district, including work in the fields of health education and prevention.
As the municipality of Proença-a-Nova shared, “This record underlines the Mobile Health Unit’s commitment to bringing healthcare closer to the most vulnerable populations, reinforcing the importance of an accessible healthcare system focused on the well-being of the community”.
1,806 body mass index and weight measurements, 1,795 blood glucose and cholesterol testing, and 1,904 blood pressure checks – all of which are important markers for fostering cardiovascular health – are among the services offered. Additionally, 35 users were recommended for specialised medical care; of these, 8 sought an emergency consultation and 27 sought a consultation with their general practitioner.
According to the local government, during July and August 2024, the Mobile Health Unit visited 104 sites and participated in educational and community initiatives, including the initiative on river beaches, recreation areas, and public swimming pools.
