“PAN saw its request addressed to the President of the Assembly of the Republic [Augusto Santos Silva] unanimously approved today, in a conference of leaders, with a view to organising a solemn session to welcome the President of Ukraine, with the participation remotely” by Volodymyr Zelensky “in a plenary meeting”.
On March 16, at the end of the previous legislature, the PAN proposed to the then President of the Assembly of the Republic, Ferro Rodrigues, through an official letter, the organisation of "a solemn welcome session", in the Standing Committee of the parliament, to the President of the Ukraine, with the participation of Volodymyr Zelensky from a distance.
In the document, the PAN invoked the participation of the Ukrainian head of state via videoconference, pointing out as examples the sessions held in the European Parliament, in the parliaments of Germany and Italy, in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, in the Congress of the United States of America and in the Canadian House of Commons.
