According to Civil Protection, the alert for the fire was given at 06:02 by an employee at Mare Deus, located in the Industrial Zone of Ermidas-Sado, “with no record of injuries”.
“The fire broke out in the company’s changing rooms, an area of about 80 square metres that is in the sub-basement of the factory”, an area that “was engulfed in flames when the firefighters arrived at the scene”, explained Fernando Dinis from Civil Protection.
“The factory will now cease operations until 16:00”, indicated the same source, adding that “the morning shift did not take place”.
The Municipal Civil Protection and the GNR were at the scene, and the Judiciary Police were called to investigate the causes of the fire.
