Brussels forecasts that Portugal's GDP will grow by 6.5% in
2022, when in May it expected an expansion of 5.8%.
This forecast is more optimistic than that of the
Government, which expects an expansion of 4.9%, and places Portugal not only
growing above the Euro Zone (2.6%) and the European Union average (2.7%), as
the country with the greatest expansion.
On the other hand, Brussels is more pessimistic for 2023 and
has cut Portuguese GDP growth prospects to 1.9%, when in May it expected 2.7%.
The European Commission becomes, among the main national and
international institutions, the most optimistic for this year regarding
Portuguese growth.
Banco de Portugal forecasts an expansion of 6.3%, the
International Monetary Fund of 5.8%, the Organization for Economic Cooperation
and Development (OECD) of 5.4% and the Public Finance Council of 4.8%.
Influencing the behavior of GDP growth is, says Brussels,
the 'carry-over' effect and the continued recovery of tourism.
THE FORECAST MADE BY BRUSSELS IS MORE REALISTIC BASED ON THE CURRENT TURMOIL IN THE TOURISM.
