In a statement, the GNR explains that, with this action
('Roadpol - Speed'), which runs until Sunday 14, it also intends to raise
society's awareness of the importance of adopting safer behaviours by drivers,
with a view to promoting road safety and safeguarding human lives.
In 2021, the GNR recorded a total of 69,186 traffic
accidents, of which at least 3,564 had speeding as the main cause.
Regarding speed inspection, last year 142,721 infractions
were recorded.
" raise society's awareness of the importance of adopting safer behaviours by drivers" and pigs will fly!

Maybe try the 'Points System' they use in Ireland. Lowesr infraction is 3 points on your licence. (Which is notified to your Insurance company) more serious infractions get more up to a limit of 12 points where you lose your licence for a period of time (I think a year and up to 3 years, not too sure of this) The Insurance companies can raise your payments according to the amount of points or seriousness of fractions.
There is a difference in the amount of points you are over the legal limit too.
When the points system came in first there was a drastic drop in speeding and bad driving because it actually hit them in the wallet !!!
