In a statement, the Federation of Transport and
Communications Unions (FECTRANS) explains that the decision to call off the
strike scheduled for next week had to do with the decision of the arbitral
tribunal to decree the performance of minimum services during the strike,
“clearly ignoring the characteristics of underground work and the
responsibility to guarantee the safety of workers and passengers”.
However, and because the unions will not “give up the
fight”, three plenary sessions will be convened for the day on which the strike
should take place, “seeking to cover as many workers as possible”, the note
reads. “We will deliver a new strike notice, to gain time, regarding the 10 day
notice, for October 25th and we will discuss with everyone the continuation of
the struggle and the measures to be taken”, indicates FECTRANS.
