But the rain is expected to continue until the end of the
month, according to forecasts from the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and the
Atmosphere (IPMA).
Meteorologist Maria João Frada explained to CNN Portugal
that this increase in temperature is related to a flow from the south over the
Iberian Peninsula that brings "high temperatures", especially in the
interior of the Alentejo, such as Évora and Beja, where maximums can reach 28
degrees.
In the rest of the country, maximum temperatures should rise
slightly, between one and three degrees above average, being above 20º in most
of the territory - Guarda and Bragança are the only regions below this
threshold.
According to IPMA forecasts, Santarém could reach 26 degrees
maximum and 15 degrees minimum, followed by Sines and Faro, where thermometers
should reach 25 degrees maximum and 18 degrees minimum. In Aveiro, Leiria,
Lisbon and Setúbal, a maximum of 24º is expected and minimum temperatures are to
be around 16º.
