In a statement, the municipality explained that this intervention is part of the upgrading of the road surface of Rua do Arsenal, Rua do Ouro and the north end of Praça do Comércio.

“The intervention covers Rua do Arsenal in this first phase and, in later phases, Rua do Ouro and the north end of Praça do Comércio and consists of the complete replacement of the base of the road which will be reinforced to respond to the road flow, with a view to provide roads with better traffic safety conditions”, said the council.

According to the municipality, the work will be carried out in phases, in order to reduce the impact on the daily lives of citizens who usually circulate in this area.

In this first phase, "the road restrictions will only have implications for the circulation of public transport", said the municipality.

During the cut in road traffic on Rua do Arsenal, public transport will take the following routes: Direction Cais do Sodré/Rossio – Av. Ribeira das Naus - Rua dos Arameiros - Rua da Prata - Rua de S. Julião - Rua da Madalena; Direction Rossio/Cais do Sodré - Rua do Ouro – Praça do Comércio – Rua dos Arameiros – Av. Ribeira das Naus; Direction Santa Apolónia/Cais do Sodré – Av. Infante D. Henrique – Praça do Comércio - Av. Ribeira das Naus – Cais do Sodré; and Direction Cais do Sodré/Santa Apolónia – Cais do Sodré – Av. Ribeira das Naus – Praça do Comércio - Av. Infant D. Henrique.
