The Castellers de Vilafranca, human tower champions in Catalonia, will be in the Portuguese capital as part of the celebration of Sant Jordi Day, which is organised by the delegation of the government of Catalonia in Portugal.
The 'castells' are "a tradition that dates back to the 18th century" and have been on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list since 2010.
Dia de Sant Jordi "is an essential date in the cultural calendar in Catalonia. It coincides with the World Book Day, on April 23, and is a tradition very rooted in Catalan society".
It will be possible to watch the construction of the 'Castells' on April 21st, from 3.30 pm, in Praça do Município, and on April 23, at 10 am, in Castelo de São Jorge, and at 3 pm in Padrão dos Descobrimentos.
