Organised by two companies and proclaimed to be the “biggest wine event in the Alentejo,” the event counts on the support of Alentejo and Ribatejo Tourism, the Alentejo Regional Viticulture Commission and the Évora municipality.

According to the organiser, the event, which will be going into its 8th edition, will be taking place once more in Praça do Giraldo, in Évora, where guests will be able to taste the 250 wines brought by the 40 participating vineyards and engage in local culture.

“We want to stick with what works. It’s an event that always brings together many people and many wine producers in a relaxed and festive environment,” Reto Frank Jorg, part of the organising body, told Lusa. The representative, who also runs one of the vineyards that are taking part, explained that the event’s goal is to bring consumers closer to the producers of the Alentejo. “People who go to wine tastings are generally wine lovers, but it’s a small market and here vineyards can show their wine to the general public and to tourists from in and out the country.”

This year, Reto Frank Jorg revealed, the main novelty is a bigger presence of gastronomy, with four or five restaurants taking part in the event.

The organisers predict that about 8,000 people will attend the event over the two days it takes place. Entry will be free, but to taste the wines you will have to pay for a cup. On the event program are wine tastings, cooking shows, and musical and dance performances.
