"Frottage" encapsulates Steven Cox's tactile nature, with textured surfaces where the exploration of the concept of hidden layers stands out. This characteristic evokes a sense of depth that puts the observer in touch with a multidimensional experience. "By creating intricate layers, I aim to encourage exploration and questioning about what lies beyond the surface," the artist explains.

The artist works mostly with acrylics, oils, pastels, and unconventional elements such as transfer techniques and mono printing, which allows him to create layered compositions that capture the essence of urban environments. "I discovered this approach through a process of experimentation and exploration, seeking to push the boundaries of traditional media and discover new ways to express my artistic vision," he reveals.

His work is present in private and international collections, including the UBS Bank Art Collection, Rathbone Investment Management, Foundation Collection VR'd Affaux and Lepsien Art Foundation, among others.

In relation to Portugal, where he has already exhibited, namely in 2022, at the Aderita Artistic Space Gallery, he classifies it as "a country with a rich history, a vibrant culture and stunning landscapes". "The juxtaposition of old-world charm and modern vitality resonates with the themes present in my work," he says. "Portugal's unique colours and textures, from its urban architecture to coastal beauty, serve as valuable inspiration that I hope to explore more closely in the future," adds the artist.

"Frotagge" will be open to the public until the end of the month. Monday (between 14h00 and 18h00), and from Tuesday to Saturday (10h00 - 18h00). Admission is free.
